| Issue 9 - March 2005 God Has Solutions Michael A. Verdicchio Have you ever been faced with a problem where it seemed like there was no solution? Have you ever dealt with an opportunity that seemed insurmountable? Have you ever felt helpless with no where to turn? Well, God has solutions! In fact, God has solutions that we would never think of! Consider the widow woman in II Kings, Chapter 4. II Kings 4:1-7: Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest. What a tremendous record of deliverance! This woman was faced with an extremely difficult situation. Iām sure lots of people could have given her lots of suggestions, but God had a marvelous solution. It must be noted and understood that Elisha received revelation from God. He certainly didnāt make up this idea of borrowing vessels. It is also important to recognize that this woman believed what Elisha told her. She could have said, ćThat is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!ä Instead, she accepted the information from Elisha, who spoke to her what God told him to speak. And, after acting on that information, and getting some miraculous results, she returned again to Elisha. He then gave her further instructions. Look at the simple solution that God provided. He multiplied the oil that she had! She just kept pouring and pouring and pouring until she ran out of vessels to pour into! Who would have ever suggested that to this widow? Many times well meaning people have suggestions, but God always has solutions. Just how big is our God? Most people focus on how big their problem is, rather than focusing on how big God is! When you stop and think about it, there are many, many records in the Bible that show just how big God is! How about crossing the Red Sea ? Now who would have ever considered the option of having the Red Sea part, and then walking across on dry ground? How many battles did the Children of Israel win without ever engaging in the fight? How is it possible for 3 men to be tossed into a raging, burning furnace and come out unharmed without even the smell of smoke on their clothes? How can a man spend a night in a lions den and not be bothered at all by the lions? How did it happen that 5,000 men, besides women and children were all fed with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes, and there were 12 baskets of leftovers? Just how big is your God? Is your problem bigger than your God? Is your situation so complex and complicated that not even God could have a solution for you? Perhaps we need to focus on how big and great and wonderful and delivering our God is! There are many records in the Bible that display Godās delivering power and might. They are not there to embarrass, but rather to encourage. The more we focus on how big our God is, instead of how big our problem is, the more we will be inclined to trust and believe God for help. Then our prayers will not be panic stricken emotional outbursts, but instead a confident calling out and asking God for His help and His direction and His solution. No matter what the situation, our God has a solution! Ephesians 3:20 and 21: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. |
