Does Opportunity Knock Or Wait?

June 13th, 2008

Mike Verdicchio

Good morning!

I have not posted for awhile - that’s because this Blog will soon be moving to a new site that I am putting together.  On that site I am planning to post Monday - Friday, and those posts will be available to the general public.

When the change comes, probably in a couple of weeks, I will simply post a link to that new site here at the Pep Blog.

"Opportunity knocks!"  Have you heard that before?  Recently I heard someone say that opportunity doesn’t knock; it waits!

Are you ready for a great opportunity for your life? You won’t be if all you look at is the "daily grind". Prepare for possibilities. Read books, investigate new ideas, and talk to people.

If you just stay secluded in you own little world and never prepare for great opportunities, then you will never see them. Pray. Prepare. Look for and expect God’s blessings every day!  Why?

Because God is a God of abundance and He has an unlimited supply. How big? Well He said, "Exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think." Is that big enough?

Have a great weekend!

Mike

IT’S FRIDAY!

June 6th, 2008

Mike Verdicchio

This Blog will be moving soon - at least the content will be posted on another web site instead.  That site is going to be open soon, but, if you want to "snoop around," and take a look, just go to http://www.EnrichingYourLifeNow.com

The more I look at what we have to offer on that site, the more excited I get!  There is just so much information, keys and tools that will show people how to get the results they desire.  And, we’ll continue working this weekend, as we get closer to “opening the doors!”

It’s Friday!

It’s Friday! It’s finally Friday! Thank God it’s Friday! The weekend is finally here!!!

You hear those expressions every Friday. What they usually mean is the work is over; it’s time to relax - put the brain on auto-pilot and let’s just coast, or better yet, let’s party!

The weekend is here, but keep track of your brain!  A day of rest is a good thing, but loosing your mind or going on auto-pilot is not the best choice.  have some fun and enjoy the weekend, get some rest, and, without having the usual daily demands, take some time to get quiet and re-group.

See you Monday,

Mike

Move Forward!

May 27th, 2008

Mike Verdicchio

Some people are still trying to live back in the “good ol’ days,” back when their lives were “so much better.”  They think about it on a regular basis and relive a happier time without all the stress or hardships that they face now.

We may have some happy memories of a time gone by, but that time is still in the past.  God or bad, happy or sad, it is still in the past and there is nothing you can do to change it.  And you certainly cannot take a time machine and go back there!

So why live your life in the past!

Yes, there are disappointments in life, some small, and some not so small.  Of course, there may be circumstances that you have to deal with as the result of something that has happened in the past.  Take care of those, but then be determined to move forward.

But, if you are going to move forward with your life, you have to put your eyes on what is ahead.  Can you imagine driving your car and putting most of your focus on what is behind you!

Stop dwelling on the past.  Stop reliving it over and over and over.  Stop talking about it.  It is over with and there is nothing that can change what has happened in the past.

The Bible talks about forgetting those things which are in the past.  That means that it is a freewill choice to let go of the past.  We can choose to look forward or to look backward.

If you want to move forward with your life, then stop looking back, ask for God’s help, and keep looking and moving forward.

Choose to have a great day!

Overcoming Discouragement

May 22nd, 2008

Mike Verdicchio

We all get discouraged from time to time.  Things are just not going right; we feel like we’ve tried and tried and still we cannot see a breakthrough, and so we get discouraged.  And when you are discouraged, it is very, very easy to complain.

The biggest key I know in overcoming discouragement is to stop complaining.  Now I know that can be difficult in those trying times, but have you ever considered that complaining is a total waste of your valuable time?  It will never change your circumstances.  Complaining just keeps you right where you are.

What you focus on is what you will attract into your life. That’s just how our brains work.  Have you ever noticed that for people who complain all the time, their circumstances and situations never improve? That’s because all their time, energy and mental focus is on their problems.  And they will continue attracting into their lives what they are focusing on.

Try this simple exercise.  Sit down with pen and paper and write out all the things you can think of that you are thankful for. You can start by being thankful you are alive!  You woke up this morning!

We all have much to be grateful for.  And I’m not talking about the guilt method. “Well, my life is a lot better than other people in the world, so I guess I better be thankful.”  No!

I’m talking about looking at your life and seeing all the things you have right now that you can be grateful for.

And then remember that complaining will never bring a solution, only more problems. Why?  Because the Creator designed your brain so that what you focus on is what you will bring into your life.

Instead of focusing on how bad the problems are, focus on getting to the solutions!  Isn’t that what you really want to bring into your life?  Focus you mind and attention on finding those solutions!

Choose to have a great day!

Today Is My Birthday!

May 15th, 2008

Today is my birthday!  I feel great!

Here is an article I had published on the internet last December.  Enjoy!

Are You Too Old Now?

Birthday celebrations are interesting aren’t they?  When you’re a child, you look forward to them and they are so much fun.  But the older we get, the less we look forward to celebrating another birthday.  Why is that?

Have you been to a 30th birthday party recently?  “Oh no, I’m not young anymore!  I’m getting old!  I’ve hit 30!”  Those are some of the things you might expect to hear.

When was the last time you were at a birthday party for someone turning 40?  You know they have special balloons for that occasion.  They are black balloons.  When you hit 40, life is just about over, so they say.

And then there’s the big 50th birthday party.  Yes, you hit the big “Five-0.”  Welcome to old age.  So they say.

But on the other hand, there are people who don’t subscribe to that way of thinking. I don’t.  Why would I want to focus on and dwell on how “old” I am getting?

A lot of what most people associate being old with is pretty negative.  Why think that way?  Why not be excited to be alive?  Life has so many possibilities! You can live life to the fullest each day by enjoying every moment!

Who is the oldest man to climb Mt Everest?  As of this article, it was Yuichiro Miura.  On May 22, 2003 Miura, a professional skier and a high school headmaster from Sapporo in Japan, became the oldest man to reach the summit of Mount Everest at the age of 70. He was among 31 people who reached the summit as part of the Miura Everest 2003 Expedition.

On October 29, 1998, John Glenn, at age 77, became the oldest person in space when he and six other astronauts orbited the Earth for nine days aboard shuttle Discovery. His mission was to test the effects of space on the elderly.

James Van Allen was the physicist who discovered the Van Allen belts.  He was asked and accepted to take part in the Galileo Mission to Jupiter, when he was 83 years old.

In July of 1999, Fred Whipple, the noted Harvard astronomer who fathered the phrase "dirty snowball" to describe comets, was named to serve on a NASA space mission team.  He became the oldest researcher ever to accept an active role in a NASA space science mission, at the age of 92.

In March of 2006, Arthur “Deke” Winston, at the age of 100, retired after 75 years of cleaning and then supervising the maintenance of both the Los Angeles trolleys, and then their buses. But don’t think “Deke” is taking a break!

The 100-year-old surprised nobody at his retirement party by announcing that during his retirement, he’ll stay busy — volunteering, he says, helping old people. He now goes to senior citizens homes and facilities to talk to them about enjoying life.

Then there’s George Dawson who had his book published when he was 101.  The book is titled, “Life is So Good.”  Why did he wait so long to write a book?  George had never learned to read until he decided to take an adult literacy class when he was 98 years old!  He went on to get his GED at the age of 103.

So the next time you feel like you’re getting too old, don’t believe it.  Yes, of course we are a day older today than we were yesterday.  But, life is so good.  Life is full of so much to see, do and learn!

I do not like to think of myself as getting older.  I like to think of myself as getting wiser.  And with those few examples that I just gave you, compared to them, I am still a youngster!

Life is truly a gift from God, and He desires that we enjoy the life He has given us to live.

Enjoy the day - I know I will!

STOP BLAMING GOD!

May 14th, 2008

It doesn’t happen very often, but I am about to vent!  I have given you fair warning.

Hearing what some preachers have been saying recently makes me want to vomit!  The puke that they are spewing out is vile!

Just yesterday I heard another one who was talking about the recent disasters around the world - tornadoes, cyclones, earthquakes - as being a “message from God.”  He said God is warning us of the evil in the world!

That was nothing more than rotten garbage coming out of his mouth!  A man who supposedly represents God, and has the “authority’ to speak on behalf of God, and the responsibility to teach others about God, is now confidently accusing God of murder?

Are good God-fearing people really supposed to believe that the God they love and worship just sent tornadoes to Missouri and Georgia that did millions of dollars worth of damage and killed at least 20?   God just decided to do this to send us a message?  And He is also sending us a message by wiping out thousands upon thousands in Myanmar and in China?

No wonder some people don’t want to go to Church.  If I heard that message I would walk out!

I fully believe that if there were 20 evil, murderous, haters of the One True God, on their way to my house to kill me, that if I asked God for His help and believed and trusted in Him, He would intervene and take them out!  One way or another He would help!

But to stand there and tell me that God just one day decided to send a group of tornadoes to destroy homes and property and murder at least 20 people, is a damn lie!

How dare you lay murder at the feet of a loving merciful God?  How dare you accuse Him of crimes of mass murder!  How dare you misrepresent the One True God just to stroke your own ego!

Speak the truth and stop blaming God or just shut up!

Stop Complaining!

May 13th, 2008

Mike Verdicchio

Have you ever considered that complaining is a waste of your valuable time?  It is a total waste of time!  It has no profit for your life.  It will never change your circumstances.  Complaining just keeps you right where you are.

And by the way, complaining and whining are irritating to others too! I’m not talking about getting help and counsel from someone.  I’m talking about the endless complaining, and whining, and “poor me” presentations.

What you focus on is what you will attract into your life. This truth has been written about for centuries. It is described by a number of different names. Whatever you choose to call it, don’t ignore it!

When someone complains they are focusing their mind on what they either don’t like or don’t want in their life. Now in doing so, they many times get sympathy from others. But how does sympathy from others help to change your situation?  It doesn’t!  So stop throwing a “pity party!”

Have you ever noticed that for people who complain all the time, their circumstances and situations never improve? That’s because all their time, energy and mental focus is on their problems.  And they will continue attracting into their lives what they are focusing on.

The Bible states it quite clearly: “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Focus and dwell on where you want your life to go, not where it is today!

Choose to have a great day!
